January 2008Stanley / North Carolina Norm Abram and his production team visited kitchen hardware manufacturer Blum, Inc. earlier this year to film a segment for his PBS television show “The New Yankee Workshop.” Norm toured the facility and looked at a wide variety of solutions for kitchen cabinets for a series of shows he will be doing around building custom cabinetry elements in the workshop. For New Yankee’s upcoming season premiering in January of 2008 on PBS, Norm will dedicate nine out of thirteen episodes to building kitchen cabinet basics. Norm’s stops included Blum’s kitchen lab where new functional and storage solutions are tested and developed, TANDEM drawer runner manufacturing and assembly areas where Blum’s industry standard TANDEM plus BLUMOTION concealed drawer runners are produced, and Blum’s showroom where he saw all the latest innovations including drawers that open automatically by just touching the drawer front. About The New Yankee WorkshopThe New Yankee Workshop airs Saturdays at 1pm ET (check local listings) on PBS.
The New Yankee Workshop companion Web site, newyankee.com, gives viewers the opportunity to get into the shop with Norm with an interactive Web cam, Q&As, resource directory, and more.
